The South Clare Child & Family Support Network is inviting parents from the Shannon area to come to a Vaping Awareness Event at Treacys Oakwood Hotel on Thursday 5th March from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
Professor Bobby Smyth (Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist) and Teresa Walsh (addiction counsellor) of the Community Substance Misuse Team (CSMT) will present information to parents and local practitioners on the topic of VAPING and in particular the harm it is causing to young people and adults.
The event is open to members of the public in particular parents of teenagers to come along to learn about how to support young who may want to stop vaping and are not aware of the extent of the harm it can cause to their health and wellbeing.
Dr. Bobby Smyth is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, who has acted as clinical lead across three adolescent addiction services in Dublin since 2003. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the Department of Public Health & Primary Care in Trinity College Dublin. He has published over 75 scientific papers in the field of addiction. His PhD thesis examined strategies to reduce the harms arising from substance use by youth.
The south Clare CFSN will also be launching a new padlet full of information and resources for parents and practitioners in relation to Vaping.
